‘Men of Moeller’ celebrate new Faust complex

ST. ANDREW DEANERY — Archbishop Moeller High School dedicated its new Gerry Faust Athletic Complex and the Kremchek Family Training Facility on Aug. 9. The ceremony honord the people who have made this new complex possible: the high school’s former football coach, Gerry Faust, and Dr. Ed Kremcheck.

Following a noon football scrimmage against Oak Hills and a soccer scrimmage, the dedication ceremony included a welcome from principal Blane Collison, a blessing of the complex by Holy Cross Father Paul Kollman, a Moeller alum, and speeches by Tim Kremcheck and Faust.

As Moeller begins preparations for its 50th anniversary in 2010, the new complex is the first visible step funded by the "Through These Doors" capital campaign.

Gerry Faust was an original staff member when the school opened in 1960, teaching algebra and coaching Moeller’s freshman football team. "Extra-curricular activities create a bond with the student and school," he says. "Students have more appreciation of the school — love the school more — when they’re involved. When you love a school, you’re going to do better in the classroom."
